Hillary Clinton’s email leaks and the idea that Russia colluded with Trump to win him the election — Marcel Lehel Lazar, also known in the hacking community as “Guccifer,” just connected both of these events in a big way.
Fox News conducted an interview with Lazar while he was serving his time in prison, located in Arad, Romania. During the interview, Lazar revealed what he found when he had the chance to dig through Hillary Clinton’s “private” email server. He noted that Hillary had been hacked three times, and while one of the countries appeared to be Russia, Lazar believes that the person who did the hacking only wanted it to appear that Russia did it.
The conversation between Lazar and Fox Senior Executive Producer, Pamela Browne, was revealing. As of right now, the famous hacker is now serving seven years in prison for hacking crimes committed in Romania.
Lazar admitted that he has hacked over 100 Americans. The people on his list include Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, members of the Bush family, and more. He noted that many people who hack use Russian proxies because they are quicker than most other options.
“Guccifer” opened up on some issues during his interview. Most importantly, he spoke about the people behind “Guccifer 2.0,” who claimed to hacked the DNC. He noted that while it may appear that the person, or people, who were involved were Russian, he suspects that they are more likely than not the “U.S. government.”
He seemed to allude to a wide conspiracy when he stated, “So I think Guccifer two-zero is an inside job… I think Guccifer two-zero is something made from some guys at the State Department. Some guys from the cyber command of the NSA, and some guys from the Vault, Vault 7 of the CIA.”
Lazar went on to say, ”You know Pam, I’m in this business for sort of 15 years now, I know what I’m saying.” The suggestion is that he is an experienced hacker, and he knows when someone is “faking it” with a proxy, or when a hacker is actually from the country where the hack supposedly originated.
When Lazar was looking through Clinton’s emails, he noted three other times in the past where she had been hacked. All of the different hacks originated from different places.
He stated that, in 2012, there were signs of hacking from IPs based in Serbia, and Belgrade. Then, in 2013, he noted IPs from Ukraine and Russia. Lazar went on to say that somebody had mirrored, or copied, Clinton’s entire server. He begged the question of how many countries actually did this, or how many hid behind fake proxies.
Lazar expressed his concern again that he does not believe the Russians were involved in this hack. He stated during the interview that, “The Russians are more skillful than this, to let the tracks saved in the documents point to them.”
Regarding Russia, he honestly feels like there will never be any evidence directly connecting the Russians to the hacking of the DNC, because he wholeheartedly believes that they were not involved.
In closing, he spoke about his opinion on President Trump when Pam asked how Lazar thought he was doing. Lazar closed with, “People don’t give him enough credit… understand — the guy is not a politician, but he wants the good of his country.”
