President Trump has had an active six months in office. He has been moving at a pace unheard of in US presidential politics, and has also faced a level of opposition seldom–if ever–seen in this country.
Despite the challenges posed by both Democrats and liberal Republicans, Trump has made immense gains in his agenda for the American people. As reported by The Hill, a new Trump ad showcases his achievements and calls on his detractors in Congress to “let [him] do his job.”
Despite Republican control of both houses of Congress, and the White House, opposition from the nation’s legislature has kept Trump from fully implementing the platform for which he won the 2016 election.
The biggest roadblock to Trump achieving his agenda has been Congressional GOP. They have dragged their feet and sided with Democrats on a number of key issues–the most notable issue being the repeal of Obamacare.
As Politico notes, a vast majority of Republican voters want a repeal Obamacare, with many also wanting a replacement measure. Eliminating Obamacare is the issue on which the Republican Party has won gains in every election since the 2010 midterms.
Trump has given full support to repealing Obamacare. He even expressed a willingness to repeal now and replace later, as noted by the Los Angeles Times. Nevertheless, as observed by Business Insider, liberal Republicans, led by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), helped Democrats kill the Obamacare repeal last month.
Trump, however, has managed to gain significant ground on the issues fully within his jurisdiction, and the Trump administration’s accomplishments have been immediately beneficial to the American economy.
The stock market is rising at an amazing rate. The Daily Caller reports that since Trump took office, the DOW Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ and S&P 500 have closed at record highs 130 times and made $4 trillion worth of gains.
Under Trump, new jobs have been created and unemployment is down to its lowest levels in more than a decade. The New York Post reports that job growth numbers are exceeding the expectations of the Labor Department. This is good news, considering that the economy must produce between 75,000 and 100,000 new jobs per month to keep pace with population growth.
A major factor in the economic boom under Trump has been his determination to cut unnecessary regulations. As Breitbart reports, Trump has eliminated 860 Obama-era job-killing regulations. Companies are now more free to invest time and money into job growth. Additionally, Trump has fast-tracked job-creating projects like the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines, which had been blocked by the Obama administration for years.
Trump’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and his commitment to securing the border have contributed to higher wages for employees. Fox News reports that without illegal labor, companies are now offering more money to attract American workers.
Trump has now put his support behind the RAISE Act, a bill The Daily Wire notes, that would cut legal immigration by half in order to provide American citizens with more jobs and higher wages.
The President’s popular policies are setting him on the road for re-election. If Congress will cooperate, America will experience a level of prosperity unlike any it has seen before.
