Donald Trump Jr. has become the newest target of the media’s Trump-Russia fixation. After discovering that he had a meeting with a Russian lawyer on the topic of adoption law, the media turned their attention to Trump Jr. as the newest focal point of the alleged “collusion.”
President Trump has largely remained silent on the issue surrounding Trump Jr.’s meeting. However, during a recent trip to France, the president defended his actions, saying that “most people would have taken that meeting.”

While on a trip to Paris at French President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation, Trump said at a joint press conference, “As far as my son is concerned, my son is a wonderful young man. He took a meeting with a Russian lawyer, not a government lawyer, but a Russian lawyer. It was a short meeting…I think from a practical standpoint most people would have taken that meeting. It’s called opposition research or even research into your opponent…but nothing happened from the meeting. Zero happened from the meeting, and honestly, I think the press made a big deal over something that a lot of people would do.”

“Politics is not the nicest business in the world, but it’s very standard where they have information, and you take the information,” said President Trump, adding that he often received phone calls from people saying they had information that could damage Hillary Clinton.
What the media doesn’t want to talk about is the suspicious circumstances surrounding the Russian lawyer.
Interestingly, this lawyer, while lacking in connections to the Russian government, had deep connections with the Democratic Party. Even worse, she has been found to have connections with the anti-Trump research firm Fusion GPS, who was behind the fake dossier on Trump. (via The Federalist Papers)
Trump defended his son in the past, who appeared on Fox News’ Hannity on Tuesday, saying on Twitter, “My son Donald did a good job last night. He was open, transparent and innocent. This is the greatest Witch Hunt in political history. Sad!”
Trump Jr. commented to Hannity, “For me, this was opposition research. They had something…maybe concrete evidence to all the stories I’d been hearing about…so I think I wanted to hear it out. But really it went nowhere and it was apparent that wasn’t what the meeting was about…literally just a wasted 20 minutes.” (via Daily Wire)
When one takes off the liberal-tinted lens of the media that has been distorting the situation, things begin to make more sense. A Russian lawyer, whose company has no website, address, or any information, who has connections with Obama officials and anti-Trump propaganda firms, sets up a meeting with Trump’s son under the lure that there might be some information about Hillary Clinton’s corruption.
Putting the pieces together, it sounds like an elaborate political set up designed to frame Trump’s son more than anything else. Only time will tell, but until then, as the dust settles, we can only hope that the American people have the discernment to notice that something smells fishy behind this affair.
