It seems that every action President Donald Trump takes is met with resistance — the resistance that thwarts the will of the American people. After this latest epic victory, liberals will be furious that they didn’t try to do more to stop this from happening.
President Trump’s travel ban is one of the most widely discussed topics in the country over the past year. According to The Daily Caller, a US appeals court in California — of all places — ruled to let the President’s travel ban stay partially in effect. This ruling is a significant victory for the President and those who have wanted to see tighter border restrictions.
The ruling concluded that the US government can bar entry of people from six countries with no connections at all to the United States. The goal is to enhance the security of the country, which is especially important after the latest terror attack in New York.
A three-judge panel made the final call. The court, located in San Francisco, is the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals. Their ruling allowed the Trump administration can block another ruling that banned the travel order.
The newest version of the travel ban released September 24th. The order is the third version of its kind and has seen favor by a majority of the country.
According to the verbiage of the ban, people from Libya, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Chad cannot enter the United States if they do not have any connections with the country or anyone in it.
The connections are clearly defined. The “connections” must be either a family relationship or a “formal, documented” relationship with a US organization, such as a university.
If people want to enter based on a family connection, they can allow entry to close relatives, such as grandparents, grandchildren, brother and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins of US citizens.
The relationship with a US entity, on the other hand, would entail a connection with a college or an organization that focuses on resettling people from other countries. There is no general admittance without reason, as there was previously.
“We are reviewing the court’s order, and the government will begin enforcing the travel proclamation consistent with the partial stay. We believe that the proclamation should be allowed to take effect in its entirety,” Justice Department representative, Lauren Ehrsam, stated.
A US Court of Appeals ruled that President Trump’s travel ban can partially stay in effect. Did you expect this ruling?
The initial cause of the travel bans was to enhance the safety of the United States. There was a growing problem of undocumented people entering the country. Without the ability to adequately vet them, they potentially put innocent Americans at risk. The ban took care to avoid vast generalizations and instead included countries where terrorism is known to flourish. Furthermore, these are the same countries for which former-President Obama also issued travel restrictions.
If this travel ban can stop one major terrorist attack and save lives, it will be worth it in the eyes of many Americans. The Left often talks about compassion but seems to neglect compassion for their own countrymen by espousing open borders. Now this victory will enable more planning, and a stronger plan to keep the US safer in the future.
