Immigration is one of the most hotly debated subjects in our country right now. President Trump just released a statement regarding immigration that has liberals stewing instead of considering the facts.
Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Davide Perdue (R-GA) met with the President for his conference today regarding the RAISE Act. President Trump stated that this new merit based immigration system will “reduce poverty, increase wages, & save taxpayers billions & billions,” per Fox News. The purpose of the RAISE Act is to change the way the United States issues green cards — now highly skilled immigrants will be prioritized.

There is no doubt that we need to prioritize the immigrants that come into our country legally while steadily deporting the people who are coming here illegally. If it were up to Democrats, every single person who sought entry to the United States would be accepted, regardless of skill. Our economy can’t handle that kind of pressure.
Sen. Tom Cotton cited an interesting statistic during the meeting. He stated that “Only 1 in 15 out of a million new immigrants come here because of their job skill. ”
There will be three main pillars under the RAISE Act. People who can speak English, have a good education, and have proven themselves to be outstanding in their field will be prioritized over other immigrants.
This system will help create more jobs as well as raise the wages that people make. If we are taking in skilled workers that means there is a need. The pay can be debated, and the hiring process would be much more traditional in nature.
Immigration was one of President Trump’s core concerns coming into the White House. The president could not wrap his mind around the fact that millions of illegal immigrants were coming into the country while then-President Obama sat back and watched idly.
President Trump was more than aware of the horrific effects of illegal immigration and our broken legal immigration system was having on our economy. A reworked green card system seeks to fix many of the problems that we have faced for years.
By prioritizing skilled workers over other foreign applicants, America will accept the best and brightest from other countries, allowing them to take part in the American dream and contribute to our economy — which is finally growing again, thanks in part to President Trump.
Our country has seen some hard times over the past eight years, but it looks like positive change is finally here. The American people are clamoring for change, and President Trump did not leave anyone disappointed by the end of this press conference, aside from maybe the Democrats.
It’s crucial that Democrat politicians understand what a majority of Americans want: effective border security, action on illegal immigration, and a legal immigration system that functions properly and puts America first. This shouldn’t be too much to ask.
It’s great to see Senators Cotton and Perdue working with President Trump on an issue of such major importance.
