Every facet of American life, including sports networks on television, have becoming politicized due to the persistence of the Left. Their goal to “resist” has made all of them apparently forget what they do for a living, and sports fans are not happy.
President Trump, in typical fashion, isn’t taking their off-the-wall criticism laying down. He recently tweeted about now-suspended ESPN host Jemele Hill: “With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have “tanked,” in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!” This statement had many liberals losing their minds, as evident by the comments section of his tweet.
The truth is, Hill did this to herself. She took extreme actions and made some pretty ridiculous mistakes and now has to accept the backlash.
It all started for her when she called President Trump a “white supremacist,” according to Fox News. Even after this occurrence, she managed to not get suspended or fired.
Now Hill is all fired up again after Vice President Mike Pence left an Indianapolis Colts game early because players kneeled during the anthem.
Pence made it known that he was leaving because he stands by the President and the American people who see the kneeling as a clear sign of disrespect. Hill was not having it and went on the attack again.
This time, however, she went after the Dallas Cowboys. Their owner, Jerry Jones, released a statement to the team saying that if they decided to kneel during the anthem, they would not get any time in the game. The players would be benched without further discussion.
Hill took this as a chance to say that the best thing people can do is boycott the advertisers for the Dallas Cowboys. “Change happens when advertisers are impacted,” Hill said. “If you strongly reject what Jerry Jones said, the key is his advertisers.”
In typical liberal fashion, Hill eventually made the topic about race. She said that Jones “has created a problem for his players, specifically the black ones…if they don’t kneel, some will see them as sellouts.”
While this was done through Hill’s Twitter account, President Trump still raised a valid point. All of this political thought is spewing onto the air via ESPN. All it takes is listening to them talk to understand that this isn’t about sports anymore — this is about politics.
ESPN has been outspoken in their disdain for President Trump. Do you still watch ESPN?
The point the President is trying to make is that by constantly talking about politics on a sports channel, the viewership will surely drop — and it has been dropping. They need to do their jobs as sports analysts and broadcasters — not act as if they are political panelists on CNN.
If they feel that strongly about their disdain for Trump and people who don’t like protesting, maybe they should seek a political job where they can discuss what is, evidently, their passion. Sports is clearly not their primary focus, and they are doing a great disservice to the fans and Patriots around the country.
