There have been many scandals plaguing the Democrat Party for the past few years, and 2017 has been one of the most revealing years regarding their misbehaviors. However, one scandal is so vile and disgusting it’s almost hard to believe it happened.
In what can only be described as a revolting scandal, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) has resigned after the fifth child sex-abuse allegation has emerged, according to The Seattle Times.
For the past five months, Murray, a Democrat, has been fighting to stay in his position despite numerous calls for him to resign amidst a sea of allegations concerning the sexual abuse of teens decades before he entered the political scene.
However, when allegations arose from within his own family, the Mayor had no other choice. He announced his resignation on Tuesday, hours after his younger cousin publicly accused Murray of molesting him in the 1970s.
“While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our city government to conduct the public’s business,” he said.
As for those who are accusing the Mayor of these charges, they couldn’t be any more relieved.
His own foster son, Jeff Simpson, was one of those sexually abused by Murray. He had come forward to say that the Mayor “began sexually abusing him as a 13-year-old and later paid him for sex.”
“I have been dealing with this for over 30 years,” he said. He goes on to recount the feelings of “shame, embarrassment, the guilt, the humiliation that I put myself through and that he put me through,” according to the Washington Post.
When Simpson heard of his resignation, said “I couldn’t believe it. I was like, you know what? God is good. When you’re doing the right thing and don’t quit before the miracle, God takes care of stuff. It’s just on his time.”
Another victim, Delvonn Heckard, said he was abused on numerous occasions at a time when he was addicted to cocaine, getting paid $10 to $20 for each occasion. “I mean, at least the public knows that everything I was saying was the truth, I’m not just some crackhead, some criminal, some street kid, I was telling the truth…It’s not just me, or one or two guys. It’s his own cousin, too.”
Despite the disturbing nature of the investigation, many have stood in solidarity with the mayor, including Council President Bruce Harrel, who had the nerve to suggest, “I would ask that I don’t want to be judged for anything 33 years ago. And I would challenge each of you to think about where you were 33 years ago.”
Taking advantage of the vulnerable is never acceptable, regardless of how long ago it allegedly was – especially for something as vile as sexual abuse to minors. How anyone could stand for such degeneracy is astounding.
The Mayor’s resignation is a step in the right direction, and those who suffered at his hands so many years ago are sure to be feeling vindicated. Let’s just hope that this man is behind bars soon enough.
