BREAKING: Susan Sarandon Makes Shock Announcement – This Could Ruin Her Career

Liberals are upset the NFL has supposedly denied Colin Kaepernick a position in the league this year and seek to get him signed on a team, according to Breitbart.

Wednesday they took to the streets and protested outside the NFL headquarters. Famous actress Susan Sarandon shocked fans and put her career in jeopardy after sending out a tweet of the march saying, “Rally in support of Colin Kaepernick in front of @NFL. Together we win. I stand with Colin. #ImWithKap.”

Kaepernick sparked controversy last year when he refused to stand for the national anthem as a means of protesting the actions committed by supposedly racist cops. Bleacher Report recalled his statement to the press at the time. He refused to “show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

He later told the press, “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Yet his refusal to stand for the national anthem wasn’t enough. Kaepernick later wore a Fidel Castro t-shirt and socks that depicted cops as pigs to further demonstrate his opinion of the US.

After leaving the San Francisco 49ers, he found himself without a team as no one was willing to sign on a player with the political baggage and lack of patriotism he had.

According to The Daily Wire, this sparked controversy among liberals who would go so far as to claim the NFL of racism. An example of this was a statement made by Shaun King, a political writer and social justice warrior, who accused the NFL of “blatant bigotry and anti-blackness,” despite 70% of NFL players claiming African American as their ethnicity.

This continued support of Kaepernick motivated activists to form a “United We Stand” march in New York outside of the NFL headquarters. Bleacher Report estimated the crowd to number about 1,200 people in total.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was one of the primary groups in attendance and has been a major supporter for Kaepernick. The NAACP sent a letter to Roger Goodell, NFL commissioner, with the claim that Kaepernick’s First Amendment rights were violated by not getting chosen by a team for his protests.

At the “United We Stand” rally, the NAACP were handing out gray t-shirts with an image of Kaepernick kneeling, the same stance he took during the national anthem protests.

Days before the rally, officers from the New York Police Department appeared in Brooklyn wearing similar shirts in a show of support for Kaepernick. NYPD Sgt. Edwin Raymond told reporters, “What Colin Kaepernick did is try to bring awareness that this nation, unfortunately, has ignored for far too long. And that’s the issue of racism in America and policing in America. We decided to gather here today because of the way he’s being railroaded for speaking the obvious truth.”

Susan Sarandon supported a rally for Colin Kaepernick. Is the NFL racist?

It remains to be seen how Sarandon’s support of Kaepernick will have an effect on her career or what effect her support will have on the efforts to see him return to the NFL.

Considering the controversy, alienation of fans and teammates, and the distraction from the game, it’s not likely anyone will play him.
