Amidst the recent sea of voices criticizing the NFL anthem protestors, it seems that one famous martial artist and Hollywood actor is letting his own voice be heard as well.
According to the Daily Mail, Steven Seagal said during an interview that he felt the NFL protests were “outrageous, a joke and disgusting.” In addition, he defended Donald Trump and accused the “Obama-ites” of Washington of trying to overthrow the president.
The actor and martial artist had much to say in an interview with the UK news program, “Good Morning Britain” that took place in Russia. Among many things, Seagal said he believed kneeling during the anthem was completely disrespectful to the brave men and women who gave their lives defending the country so that these athletes can make millions while playing a sport.
“I guess really what I’d like to say is this, I believe in free speech, I believe that everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, but I don’t agree that they should hold the United States of America or the world hostage by taking a venue where people are tuning in to watch a football game and imposing their political views,” he said.
He added, “I think it’s outrageous, I think it’s a joke, it’s disgusting. I respect the American flag. I myself have risked my life countless times for the American flag and I don’t understand or agree with this kind of behavior. I think it’s an outrage.”
It wasn’t the only thing he had to talk about either, as the former actor added that he supports the president, and is worried that Trump will have a hard time getting anything done in the Oval Office with so many Obama sympathizers undermining him at every turn.
“I think that we have a really unfortunate situation in the sense that even though he [Trump] was democratically elected, there are so many people out there that don’t think that’s the case,” Seagal said during his interview.
“We have a ton of enemies within,” he added. “We have these democrats that have this whole other agenda to kind of, when I say, Democrats, it’s not just the Democrats, but there are this whole group of left of Obama-ites and people that feel they should overthrow Trump, and any decisions he makes, anything he tries to do, he gets blocked often from the enemies within, so it’s very difficult for him to do anything.”
Seagal’s characterization of the situation is quite accurate. When one considers the extent to which the media tries to demonize the current president, it’s no wonder that such a resistance has emerged – both within and outside political circles – to the president’s efforts to help this country.
Steven Seagal said NFL protests were “outrageous, a joke and disgusting” and he defended Donald Trump. Is his career going to pay a price for these views?
Of course, many were critical of Seagal’s opinion, and the actor has earned more than his fair share of criticism since appearing on the interview, according to Time.
He even said that anyone who thought Putin had interfered in the election in favor of Trump “is stupid.” Seagal also described the entire fixation as “astronomical propaganda” that’s been functioning as a diversion so that people “won’t really see what’s happening.” It’s an opinion shared by a CNN producer, who admitted to an undercover journalist that the Russia-Trump narrative was completely bogus.
Seagal’s opinion is just one of many that has emerged in an effort to let the American people know the truth. Let’s hope that they will listen to it.
