Trump spent the Independence Day at the White House with military families, maintaining a tradition that has been observed for decades.
As the Star Spangled Banner finished, Trump gave a beautiful, patriotic speech where he not only gave thanks to the members of our armed services, but made it clear that God is and always will be at the center of what this great country is founded upon.

The president gave plenty of thanks and praise to the armed services, saying, “Melania and I truly appreciate and celebrate America’s independence with those who courageously defend our country — the men, women, and families of the United States military. It is because of you that well over 300 million American citizens can live in freedom.”
He continued his speech: “Each of you here today represents that rare combination of patriotism, virtue, and courage that our citizens always have — and I mean always — admired and that our enemies have always feared. At this moment, your brothers and sisters in arms are posted around the globe, fighting our enemies and standing watch to protect our nation. They’re fighting for us. We are thanking them, praying for them, and saluting them for their selfless sacrifice.”
In a pledge of support for military families and the U.S. military, Trump said, “There could be no greater privilege than to serve as your Commander-in-Chief. I pledge my unwavering support for you, for your families, and your missions. I will always have your back. I will always, under all circumstances.”
He concluded his patriotic comments with, “May God bless you all. May God bless our military. May God bless forever the United States of America.” (via White House)
It has been a long time since a president showed such support for the military and their families, and additionally recognizing God as being an integral part of this great nation.
Yet the media doesn’t care. They hardly ever give Trump positive coverage over the good things his administration does and continues to do.
On Monday, former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) mentioned this very same thing, highlighting the media’s tendency to ignore anything good that Trump does. He states, “The media basically hates Donald Trump more than they love America. So, they’re going to ignore the pro-America comments that he makes and they’re going to camp out and never leave the campsite if he says something that offends them, which in many cases they deserve it.” (via Breitbart)
It seems that even expressing basic amounts of patriotism is becoming controversial in today’s cultural and political climate, let alone giving thanks to God.
Thankfully our president is one that does the right thing regardless of how much he is criticized and condemned for it. It’s this strength of character that gives conservatives, Christians, and all Americans across the nation assurance that Trump will follow through on his promises.
