JUST IN: Sessions Makes Shock “Sanctuary City” Announcement

Since being elected, Trump has worked hard with Attorney General Jeff Sessions to make our country more secure than ever before.

Sessions announced Friday that he is certain that self-proclaimed sanctuary cities are going to eventually buckle under pressure from the federal government, according to The Hill. “A number of cities are reviewing the situation, and will not be a list of cities that are not cooperating,” Sessions stated.  The fact that more cities are willing to cooperate is good for our country and securing our borders in a realistic way.

Sessions then went on to name some of the cities that have since agreed to follow federal law, after first saying that they wanted to ignore immigration policy. Some of these cities include Miami-Dade, Milwaukee, and Las Vegas.

Their compliance is a result of the Justice Department punishing cities who refused to obey this simple federal law. The tactic to get them to comply involved holding onto grant money for police stations.

Generally, the principle was — if they can’t follow federal law, why should they get federal funding? Many would argue that it is a reasonable point to be made, and the evidence shows that many officials in former sanctuary cities around the country agree.

Not all cities have agreed to follow through with this plan yet. Sessions is giving places like Chicago, New Orleans, and New York one more chance to get their situations settled, and disavow themselves as sanctuary cities.

“Jurisdictions that adopt so-called ‘sanctuary policies’ also adopt the view that the protection of criminal aliens is more important than the protection of law-abiding citizens and of the rule of law,” Sessions continued in his statement.

Officials in these cities have sworn to protect the US citizens that live there — not the people who are in this country illegally, and especially, illegal immigrants who are guilty of violent crimes. When non-citizens are put before citizens, the country suffers as a whole.

President Trump has firmly stated that part of his promise to make America great again consists of tightening our border security policies. Along with securing the border, we also need to reform our immigration policies — hence the latest actions taken on the DACA plan. Once we have more secure borders, and a more pragmatic approach to immigration and the enforcement of our immigration laws, the country will be safer.

Sanctuary cities are reviewing their policies. Are their priorities off?

The president took to Twitter to express his annoyance at the cities that are still refusing to comply with Sessions and the Justice  Department.

“Hard to believe that the Democrats, who have gone so far LEFT that they are no longer recognizable, are fighting so hard for Sanctuary crime,” Trump’s tweet reads. This is not the first time the president has pointed out the mindlessness of the Left on his Twitter feed.

Sessions is awaiting to see what the other cities are going to do moving forward. Simply put, if they want to keep their federal funding, the best thing they can do at this point is start obeying federal laws.
