The Democrat leadership is still recovering from their historic 2016 election defeat. In a recent incident, Senator Chuck Schumer lost his temper with a family dining at an upscale New York café, forcing them to flee.
According to Fox News, Patrons of the upscale Sette Mezzo restaurant in New York’s Upper East Side had their dinner interrupted when Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) started verbally harassing a well-connected supporter of President Trump. Diners at the restaurant told Page Six that Schumer made a “scene,” and was “yelling” at the female Trump supporter. Schumer reportedly followed the woman and her husband outside to continue his rant, yelling, “How could you vote for Trump? He’s a liar!”
Prominent Democrat Joseph A. Califano, Jr. was enjoying a quiet dinner with his wife, Hilary, when Schumer approached the New York couple. Califano served as the secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare under former President Jimmy Carter. He also served as the domestic policy adviser to former President Lyndon B. Johnson. Hilary Califano is the daughter of William S. Paley, founder of CBS.
Despite being married to a prominent Democrat, Hilary Califano supported and voted for President Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
According to a witness who was eating at Sette Mezzo, Chuck Schumer spotted the couple from across the room and approached their table. “They are a highly respected couple, and Schumer made a scene, yelling, ‘She voted for Trump!’”
The patron further stated, “The Califanos left the restaurant, but Schumer followed them outside.” Chuck Schumer continued his tirade on the street, and was heard yelling, “How could you vote for Trump? He’s a liar!” He kept repeating, “He’s a liar!”
Hilary Califano confirmed the story with Page Six and explained that, “Sen. Schumer was really rude . . . He’s our senator, and I don’t really like him. Yes, I voted for Trump. Schumer joined us outside and he told me Trump was a liar. I should have told him that Hillary Clinton was a liar, but I was so surprised I didn’t say anything.”
Schumer denied that he lost his cool at the restaurant. A spokesman for the senator explained that, “[Schumer] and his wife ate at the café on Sunday, engaging in unremarkable conversation with patrons who approached their table. There were no heated exchanges with anyone.” This is obviously in contrast to Hilary Califano’s statements.
This is not the first time Democrat leader Chuck Schumer let his emotions get the best of him. Earlier this year, Chuck Schumer broke down into tears while attempting to condemn President Trump’s executive order temporarily blocking immigration from seven Muslim majority countries.
Schumer verbally assaults woman in upscale restaurant over her support of Trump. Should Schumer face disorderly conduct charges?
While meeting with reporters, President Trump doubted Schumer’s sincerity, claiming the senator was sporting “fake tears” and must have used an “acting coach.”
“I know him very well,” President Trump said of his fellow New York native. “I don’t see him as a crier. If he is, he is a different man. There’s about a 5 percent chance that it was real, but I think they were fake tears.”
These incidents show that some leaders on the Left are still unable to accept that the people of the United States chose Donald Trump as their president.
