The media has been all over Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian attorney, using this as new fuel in their media crusade against the current administration and propelling the Russia-Trump “collusion” narrative further.
However, the same Russian lawyer, though lacking in connections with the Kremlin, appears very connected to a different group of people: the Obama administration. Just eight days after Trump’s meeting, she was spotted sitting near the then-President Obama’s ambassador to Russia during a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing about Russian involvement in the Ukraine. In a clear picture, you can see Natalia Veselnitskaya sitting just behind the ambassador, alongside Emin Agalarov, another man mentioned in Trump Jr.’s emails, who first set up the meeting. As journalists investigate this connection, troubling information is being released.
Both of these individuals have been found to have connections with Fusion GPS, a Democrat-aligned political research firm that was behind the fake “dossier” on President Trump, whose tactics included hiring a former MI6 spy to concoct a series of virulent rumors about Trump. (via The Hill)
In fact, earlier this month the Senate Judiciary Committee threatened to subpoena the firm after they refused to answer questions or provide records as to who financed the dossier. “These weren’t mercenaries or hired guns; these guys had a vested personal and ideological interest in smearing Trump and boosting Hillary’s chances of winning the White House,” said an unnamed congressional source.
Fusion still refuses to cooperate with congressional investigators.
Christopher Steele, the MI6 spy who was hired by Fusion GPS, and his firm, Orbis Business Intelligence, was paid $250,000 for the package of manufactured rumors, despite having no evidence to back them up.
This same dossier ended up in the hands of the CIA and attached to a Top Secret intelligence briefing on Russia for President Obama, even though his intelligence chief testified that, “We couldn’t corroborate the sourcing.” The FBI, moreover, has been using it for investigative leads on Trump associates like Carter Page, even though former FBI Director James Comey described the dossier as “salacious and unverified.” (via New York Post)
Even worse, the law firm where Natalia Veselnitskaya is listed as an employee, Kamerton Consulting, is based in a Moscow suburb and doesn’t even have a website. With no working phone, email, or website, her office may very well be a shell. (via Chicago Tribune)
It’s difficult to know exactly who Veselnitskaya is working for, but it’s clear the media is only telling part of the story. Do you think there’s an Obama connection? Let us know in the poll below!
This brings us to many important questions: Who is this supposed lawyer? Why is the company she supposedly works for lacking in basic information? How do we explain her connection with the anti-Trump Fusion GPS? Why was she given a privileged seat up front during the congressional hearing, with an Obama official no less?
The more we look into this situation, the clearer it is that Democrats may be behind this affair. As Congress requests that Donald Trump Jr. testify before them, he is going to face an uphill battle against what appears to be a political set up made to look like collusion.
