New details have emerged from this Senator’s wife that his health situation is much worse than previously thought.
As penned by his wife for CNN, Kelley Paul, the wife of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), wrote that the Senator has been having painful breathing problems. “He has not had a single night’s sleep uninterrupted by long periods of difficult breathing or excruciating coughing.”

Mrs. Paul wrote an article for the news network explaining publicly how severe her husband’s health situation is. “As his wife, I have been distraught over seeing him suffer like this. There have been several nights where I had my hand on my phone ready to call 911 when his breathing became so labored it was terrifying.”
“Despite this, he refused to give in to the pain and was determined to fly back to Washington last week to do his job. As we walked through the airport returning from DC, he was shivering with a 102.5 fever, and the next morning his internist diagnosed pneumonia in his damaged lung,” she added.
Mrs. Paul also commented on how hurtful it was to see mainstream media outlets characterize her husband as a poor neighbor or drafting theories about an “ongoing dispute,” something she feels is nothing more than speculation “from an attention seeking person with no knowledge of anything to do with us.”
She recounts that neither herself nor Mr. Paul had spoken to the attacker in 10 years aside from occasionally waving at him from the car. Since both his wife and children moved away, the two men have hardly seen each other at all, especially considering Sen. Paul’s travels to Washington, DC for work.
News outlets covered the incident as a slight “scuffle,” along with other descriptions, were contradicted by Mrs. Paul’s account, which recounted an attack that was anything but. “This was not a ‘scuffle,’ a ‘fight’ or an ‘altercation,’ as many in the media falsely described. It was a deliberate, blindside attack. The impact left Senator Paul with six broken ribs, three displaced, pleural effusion and now pneumonia. This has been a terrible experience made worse by the media’s gleeful attempts to blame the Senator for it; ridiculing him for everything from mowing his own lawn to composting.”
This portrayal of what happened is a far cry from how other mainstream outlets have described the attack. The Washington Examiner, for instance, wrote a story titled, “Rand Paul and neighbor had ongoing dispute about yard waste before assault, and other outlets have taken on to reporting the landscaping dispute.
The Republican Senator returned to Washington last week after his neighbor, Rene Boucher, attacked him earlier in November. Pleading not guilty to a fourth-degree assault charge, Mr. Boucher faces up to a year in jail if convicted and is due back in court on Nov. 30 for a pretrial hearing, according to The Hill.
Sen. Rand Paul is recovering from severe injuries received after an attack by his neighbor. Do you believe that the attack was over a “trivial matter”?
Mr. Boucher’s lawyer has described this affair as being over a “trivial matter” not related to politics, saying in a statement that the situation is “a very regrettable dispute between two neighbors over a matter that most people would regard as trivial.”
The attorney expressed hope that Sen. Paul makes a quick recovery, and that hopefully, the two men can return to being neighbors in the future.
Hopefully, Sen. Paul will make a full recovery from his severe injury and that his attacker — whatever his motives were — will receive an appropriate sentence for his actions.
