BREAKING: Pelosi Issues ‘Impeachment’ Announcement, Media Stunned

One top Democrat made a decision that surprised both those in her party as well as many of her liberal supporters.

“It’s not someplace that I think we should go,” said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi while speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, referring to whether or not Democrats would seek to oust the President if they regained the majority in Congress, as reported by Politico.

The top Democrat revealed yesterday that even if the party were to retake control of the House and Senate in the 2018 elections, pushing for impeachment against President Trump would not be one of their legislative priorities.

Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has kept the impeachment idea a possibility depending on how the ongoing investigations regarding the Trump-Russia connection turn out. “If that’s there, perhaps it will come out in these investigations.”

Ms. Pelosi was reportedly critical of an ad put out by billionaire Democrat donor Tom Steyer that called for the impeachment of Mr. Trump. When asked on MSNBC about the advertisement, she said, “That’s a great ad,” before switching the topic. The House minority leader has previously expressed that fostering a reputation as the “no drama” party is a key to winning back the White House in 2018, according to Politico.

Other members of the party have been urged to avoid talk of impeachment as well. “There’s nothing any of us can say in Congress that is going to change people’s view of Donald Trump,” said freshman Rep. Ro Khanna, a Silicon Valley progressive who agrees with Ms. Pelosi’s idea. “What they need is us to help them form their view of whether the Democratic Party is ready to lead.”

However, there are still many in the Democrat Party who are trying their best to stop the President in his tracks. A group of Democrats will be filing new articles of impeachment against Mr. Trump this month, including Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL). “It is clear to us that he is unfit to be president of the United States of America,” Gutiérrez said.

The Illinois Democrat added that “We appreciate single members putting in on their own articles of impeachment, (but) we’re going to use a lot of constitutional scholars and really make a case that the president should be impeached.”

Other representatives, such as Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), and Rep. Al Green (D-TX), have both introduced articles of impeachment against the President themselves. Although Green stopped short of forcing a vote on the issue, he did imply that an impeachment vote was inevitable.

The impeachment issue is one that has split the party. Some, such as Ms. Pelosi, believe that criticizing the President and building drama is no longer an effective strategy. On the other hand, many representatives in the party feel that those such as Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) are failing to stand up for their liberal constituents.

Rep. Gutierrez, who has also criticized the President’s response to the Puerto Rican relief efforts, said that Robert Mueller’s investigation was paramount to securing the future of this nation.

Nancy Pelosi is not pursuing impeachment for President Trump. Does this surprise you?

“I kinda like that Mueller — he’s out there doing his job,” he said. “Our democracy may depend on that one man doing his job.”

Few conservatives expected that Nancy Pelosi, of all people, would be calling for such a strategy. If anything, the Democrats are realizing that constantly attacking the President of this nation might not be the best way to grow their voter base.
