If there’s been one group of Americans tat have had respected Trump since the beginning, it’s our armed services. Their sacrifice, courage, and valor are what keep this nation safe and secure, and it’s no surprise that they would agree with our president’s goal to do so.
In a recent visit with survivors from the USS Arizona, Trump spoke with three veterans at the White House alongside the press. In an emotional and heartwarming comment, one survivor made the statement that “All the people we met today and all the people who were lined along – that we’ve been with, you could tell, with our military and everything, that this country is coming together again, and we’re going to be there.”
The three veterans were survivors of the sinking of USS Arizona when it was bombed by the Japanese during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The president would show his respect to these brave soldiers, individually praising Lauren Bruner, fire control man, Donald Stratton, seaman first class, and Ken Potts, a coxswain who all managed to survive that attack over 75 years ago.
“I hope this trip does honor to you and your truly heroic service,” said Trump, “we want to thank you, thank you all. That is so good. Thank you very much.” (via White House)
These individuals, whose stories Trump would recount, included fighting in the greatest Pacific engagements in the war “despite suffering terrible burns still with them today.” The president would tell of the selflessness of these men, “rather than flee from fire and chaos, he [Ken Potts] drove his small boat into the blazing hot water. He climbed aboard the sinking Arizona and carried of passengers one by one.”
Altogether, the Arizona is a memorial for the 1,177 service men who lost their lives when the ship sunk.
But even more remarkable was Donald Stratton’s comment, in which after Trump’s speech concluded, let the president know that “this country is coming together again,” thanks to his efforts. Unlike those in the media who try their best to mislead Americans regarding the nature of this administration, our armed services know better. They, along with our border patrol and police officers, know what the situation is like on the front-lines, and fully appreciate Trump’s efforts to protect this nation and revitalize it like never before.
Since even before getting elected, Trump has shown that he supports our active military and veterans. Are you glad? Let everyone know in the poll below!
“There are many remarkable things that I witness as president, but nothing can take the place of meeting heroes like those with us today,” said Trump. “In them, we see the strength of our nation, the courage of our men and women in uniform, the resolve to never accept failure, and the belief that justice will always triumph, and that the America — and the America that we know and love — the United States — will always prevail. We will always prevail” (via White House)
As our administration continues to do its job in the face of tremendous adversity, it is comforting to know that our military will always stand behind the character of our president.
