As the country watches and waits to see what North Korea will do next, you can’t help but wonder — how was North Korea able to develop nuclear weapons right under our nose?
According to Fox News, the fact that N. Korea has nuclear power is far from a “bombshell.” In fact, we should have been well aware of this, considering it was announced in a piece by The New York Times back in 2013 — it claimed the dictator-run country had nuclear weapons. Obama officials tried to downplay the investigation in order to prevent the news from forcing Obama to be more assertive with North Korea.
Fred Fleitz covered the issue in the Fox News piece, and plenty of interesting information has been brought to light. Back in the day, Obama was seen as a beacon of peace by the Liberals. They would never have imagined that he would attack another country, despite bombing seven countries during his presidency.
When news broke that North Korea had this kind of power, it was downplayed by the administration, as well as the media. In the piece by the New York Times, they said that the “Weapon’s reliability would be low.” In other words, ineffective.
In the current day and age, President Trump is a centerpiece for hatred among the Liberals. When North Korea threatened us with nuclear weapons, President Trump didn’t back down. Instead, he brought the situation to the forefront by promising “Fire and fury” like the world has never seen.
Instead of seeing this as a president who is attempting to disarm a power that puts the United States, Japan, South Korea, and more in danger, Democrats are taking it as a cue to call the president a warmonger.
If Obama had stepped up the way that President Trump did, he would have been forced to drop his “wolf in sheep’s clothing” act and threaten North Korea for developing nuclear missiles with the intent to harm innocent people.
The question the American people have to ask is — what is the difference between now and then? The only notable one seems to be the White House administrations.
According to BBC, President Trump has not quite given up on peace yet. They pointed to a tweet of the president’s, which read, “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully, Kim Jong-un will find another path!”
In other words, he would prefer that Kim steps down, and does not start World War III — however, if he decides to attack, we are ready. This kind of preparation is, without a doubt, necessary when you are dealing with someone as unstable as Kim Jong-un.
James “Mad Dog,” Mattis spoke regarding North Korea as well. He stated that North Korea should try to avoid action that “would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.”
Despite Obama not announcing the news and stepping up in 2013, the current administration is ready. The line is drawn in the sand, and the only thing left to do is to wait and see how North Korea responds.
