North Korea has been threatening the United States for a long time. We have been watching and waiting for the first sign of action from the dictator-run nation, and it may finally be here.
Claiming that it could reach “the whole US mainland,” North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that has the power to hit major cities in the United States, according to CNN. Everyone is unhappy with this testing including the United States, Japan, China, and South Korea. The recklessness of North Korea is detrimental to all of us.
The previously mentioned countries put their data together with ours, and some startling information was uncovered. The missile ended up in the air for 45 minutes total; it went 621 miles in length and 2,300 miles high. In other words, a missile could reach the United States if the trajectory was fixed.
Experts claim that if the North Koreans adjusted the aim they could hit major cities such as L.A., Denver, New York, and Chicago. In other words, the most densely populated places in the world are within range.
There is one unknown factor in all of this, and that is how much of a payload the weapon was carrying. It is well-known that the more payload in the missile, the more payload a missile is carrying, the more the distance is compromised.
We sincerely hope that the missile they fired was empty and just a sign of showing off. Kim Jong-un has bluffed many times in the past, and it would not be a surprise to find that this is all another bluff in an attempt to get President Trump to react.
President Trump has confirmed that we will take action to secure our country if it comes down to it. He displayed his disdain for their missile attempt last time by saying, “Threatening the world, these weapons and tests further isolate North Korea, weaken its economy and deprive its people.”
Trump went on to say, “The United States will take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the American homeland and protect our allies in the region.” It is nice to have a president that isn’t playing games with these dangerous dictator-types anymore.
The next day, a Korean-run news agency said that the missile was a Hwangsong-14, a replica of the one that they most recently launched. They concluded the segment by saying that Washington would do well to pay attention to the launch and consider it a “grave warning.”
Things are so serious that China is even stepping up to tell North Korea to quit messing around. They issued a statement Saturday that said that they condemn the actions that were taken by Jong-un Friday and urged Pyongyang to back off and quit raising tension throughout the area for no reason.
Everyone is watching and waiting to see what happens next. The ball is in North Korea’s court. They should take the advice and back down because if they have the wrath of China, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. down their backs, they don’t stand a chance of winning.
