President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump recently visited China on their first tour of Asia during the Trump administration. Although foreign officials have showered the couple with lavish gifts and respect, some in the American media have, as predicted, criticized the pair.
As The Daily Caller reported, President Trump and Mrs. Trump appeared in Beijing, China, for a State Dinner, during which Mrs. Trump wore a traditional Chinese dress. However, Leftists have criticized Mrs. Trump for her ensemble, saying she “missed the mark” and chose an outfit previously worn by an actress.
First Lady Melania Trump impressed many with her latest fashion choice. She donned a fabulous pink floral dress, culturally appropriate for her visit to China, designed with pink fur cuffs. Mrs. Trump, who is already a fashion icon, continues to display elegant fashion choices with every public appearance.
The First Lady decided to forgo jewelry that typically accessorizes her outfits, opting instead to let the dress and its elaborate patterns stand out. Mrs. Trump did, however, wear a single piece of jewelry: her engagement ring.
Some criticized her choice of attire, calling it a “rare fashion mis-step for the First Lady, who chose a dress with a bizarre fur-trim on the sleeves.” Others attacked her for wearing a dress that looked very similar to one worn by Margot Robbie at the 2016 Hollywood premiere of The Legend of Tarzan.
Leftists attacks on Mrs. Trump have become commonplace, with attacks on everything from shoes to jewelry, to hair and dresses. They prey on her every public appearance just to find something to criticize so they can continue their steadfast opposition to anything related to the Trump administration or family.
In August, the liberal media criticized her for wearing high heels while boarding Air Force One ahead of a visit to Texas after Hurricane Harvey. As one Leftist said on Twitter, “God grant me the serenity not to comment on the shoes.” The comment came from Ben White, chief economic correspondent for Politico. This comment pales in comparison to the venom spewed by other liberals on Twitter.
Lynn Yaeger, a contributing editor to Vogue, also joined in on the criticism of Mrs. Trump in August, saying, “While the nation is riveted by images of thousands of Texans wading with their possessions, their pets, their kids, in chest-high water, desperately seeking refuge; while a government official recommend that those who insist on sheltering in place write their names and social security numbers on their arms, Melania Trump is heading to visit them in footwear that is a challenge to walk in on dry land.”
Regarding her trip to hurricane-battered Texas, the angry liberal media didn’t issue retractions when Mrs. Trump changed her outfit on the plane and stepped off in entirely new attire, complete with sneakers — no high heels. Instead, they took credit for influencing the outfit change.
Melania Trump is being criticized by liberals for her fashion choices. Should liberals focus on more important things than what the First Lady wears?
Seemly on a daily basis, the liberal media has something to say about the First Lady and what she wears. Conversely, and ironically, throughout the entirety of the eight years of her husband’s administration, the media never found a reason to criticize the attire of former-First Lady Michelle Obama. In fact, Mrs. Obama received a hefty amount of praise, especially for her sleeveless and shoulder-baring dresses.
The liberal media has shown it has no boundaries when it comes to attacking the Trump family. Even young Barron Trump has been the target of various criticisms. It is quite telling that the President and First Lady have received better treatment from foreign leaders and the foreign press across Asia than from the media in their home country.
