Sen. John McCain recently exposed himself as a threat to the Republican party during the health care vote just a couple of weeks ago. After being an adamant supporter of repealing Obamacare, he suddenly changed his vote at the last minute to go against the grain of President Trump.
McCain has done the unthinkable. He admitted in an interview with The New York Times that, “They see weakness in the president… Look, it’s not a nice business we’re in.” According to Washington Examiner, the Arizona Senator went on to confirm that he doesn’t think that the party will support the president if and when he decides to run in 2020. It seems like, despite the insane opposition from the Left and the handful of Republicans who oppose him, our president is doing just fine.
It would appear that, even though McCain makes his reasons for not supporting Trump sound political, that is far from the case. There has been animosity between Trump and McCain since President Trump made a comment in 2o15 about how he likes war heroes who weren’t captured.
There are many people who would argue that Senators like John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski are going to be the ones scrambling for support after their recent attempt to thwart a “skinny repeal” of Obamacare, as reported by The Hill.
In fact, almost everyone in the Republican party seems to be on the same page, save for McCain and the others. So the question here is who is actually out of the loop, McCain & two other Republican Senators, or President Trump and the rest of the GOP?
Logically speaking, McCain’s comments do not make much sense. The people voted for President Trump on many things, one of which includes the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.
In this instance, President Trump, and a strong majority of the GOP attempted to do their jobs and work for the will of the American people. Any chance of Obamacare getting repealed before the August recess was destroyed due to the votes of the McCain, Collins, and Murkowski.
McCain is the one opposing the people’s wishes and seemed to forget entirely why he was put in his position as a Senator. A majority of the country wishes to wash their hands of this mess of a health care system, and it seems to have gone right over their heads, even though McCain was strongly opposed to Obamacare for years.
President Trump expressed his disdain for McCain as well as the other members of the GOP for voting down the repeal of Obamacare. The president’s tweet read, “3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down. As I said from the beginning, let ObamaCare implode, then deal. Watch!”
Despite numerous positive achievements, President Trump faces strong opposition. Will you support him in the next election?
It seems like if anyone should be worried about their job at this point it should be McCain. The hard-working Americans in this country have expressed that they are tired of an unconstitutional bill that isn’t even providing their families with proper coverage.
Democrats are trying to save the bill because they believe that it is the morally correct thing to do, but they are failing to see how they are managing to drag the country down by keeping us in the failing Affordable Care Act.
