When one of the most hypocritical liberal politicians in the nation wins an award for her moral character, something is very wrong.
According to TV One, Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) was the recipient of the “Woman of the Year” award from the Congressional Black Caucus. Considering her past and present actions, it’s an outrageous decision.
Maxine Waters was honored during the Sojourner Truth Legacy Project reception with one of many awards given to African-American women of great “exemplary” character and achievement.
The project was partnered with the philanthropic divisions of GM and Ford in an effort to give back to women of color. The reception, which was held in Washington, DC at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, is just one part of the Congressional Black Caucus’ 47th annual Legislative Conference.
“Ford Fund and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference are thrilled to share in the celebration of three leaders who paved the way for young women to reach their dreams,” said Pamela Alexander, director of community development at Ford. She was referring to three individuals who were being honored at the event, with Maxine Waters being one of them.
“Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Democrat of California and ranking member of the financial services committee, will be presented with the Woman of the Year award by her Congressional Black Caucus Foundation colleagues,” said the official Ford press release.
The significance of this award as well as Waters being chosen as its recipient is mitigated when one takes a moment to look into the Black Congressional Caucus’s previous controversies.
Aside from endorsing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 General Election, the group was caught spending lavishly on luxury resorts, restaurants, hotels, and other venues rather than contributing that money to the political campaigns they promised to help. Overall, the group spent more than three times as much on these expenses as opposed to political contributions, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
With this in mind, it is not surprising that a group as ethically questionable as themselves would award Waters with such a distinction. The California representative has made her opinions on the current President well known to the public, often calling for his impeachment for a variety of things, including, most recently, Trump’s comments related to NFL players kneeling at the National Anthem.
Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) was the recipient of the “Woman of the Year” award from the Congressional Black Caucus. Is she a deserving recipient?
“He’s pointing now to the NFL. We know that the majority of these players are African American and we know what he is doing. We’re not tricked or fooled by him in any shape, form or fashion,” she said on MSNBC recently. “He should not be the president of the United States of America and we gotta get ready for impeachment.”
This recognition, bestowed on Waters, might be more alarming from any other group, but knowing that it was from the Black Congressional Caucus, means it’s a distinction of little genuine importance and more because of agenda-driven politics.
