There is a glimmer of hope that the long-time liberal/progressive state of California might see a conservative revival in the coming years. As hard as that might be for some to believe, conservatives have found a new voice in what many have thought was a hopeless cause of a state.
Maxine Waters (D-CA), is facing a new conservative contender for her seat in the 43rd congressional district in the 2018 mid-term elections, according to Breitbart. Her challenger is everything she is not: young, charismatic, Latino, and a passionate defender of this country’s values. Hopefully, Omar Navarro will kick her out of Congress.
Omar Navarro, 28, is tired of watching the “Golden State” fall apart thanks to its liberal politicians. After seeing districts and counties get run into the ground due to oblivious politicians making poor decisions, he decided that he’s had enough and has commenced a campaign to oust Waters from her 43rd congressional district seat.
“When I realized Maxine Waters was my representative, I said, ‘Wow, this person is representing me? How are people electing this person year after year?’ I started doing research and looking into her background, and I did not see one candidate running a legitimate campaign against her in 27 years,” Navarro said in his interview with Breitbart News.
In fact, this isn’t his first time running against the incumbent Democrat. Navarro ran against the congresswoman once before. He only raised $3,000 in his initial 2016 run against Waters. By contrast, Waters spent $650,000 against him. Despite being totally eclipsed financially, he managed to win 25% of the vote.
Those results were promising enough to motivate him to try again in 2018, where his newfound experience and greater financial backing could give him a good chance of defeating Waters.
“I want to run. I want to make a difference in my community,” said Navarro. “I want to impact my community. I’m tired of all these politicians not doing anything for us. They’re not changing anything. I want to be that person.”
So far, things have been promising for the young upstart. He has raised close to $31,000 compared to Water’s $26,000 in individual contributions so far. He has also been endorsed by some nationally-known figures, including Roger Stone. The conservative political operative and longstanding Trump supporter has come to work on Navarro’s campaign.

Navarro’s core issues–business growth, job creation, protecting the Second Amendment, legal immigration, and better treatment and care of veterans–are all welcome changes to the nonsense that has been coming from the liberal state for a while now. Policies such as refusing ICE agents entrance to department offices, voting schools to be “sanctuary safe havens” from immigration enforcement, to even proposing a ballot incentive asking for signatures to support a California succession from the Union are all recent examples of this buffoonery.
Being a Trump supporter in California isn’t easy, as Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) found out. Recently he was threatened by the audience in a town hall he hosted. Navarro is sure to encounter many instances such as these as he makes his run against Waters.
As for Maxine Waters, she has good reason to be careful now. As Navarro said at a fundraiser he held, “I’m coming for you.”
