Famous musician Kid Rock has truly rocked the political establishment in Michigan. Ever since he first announced that he was possibly going to run for Senate, he has been laughed off as a joke, quite similar to when Trump issued his first famous announcement to run for president. However, it seems the joke is no longer funny for the Democrats.
New polls show that Kid Rock would not only win the nomination against his fellow Republican contenders, but that he would oust the current Democratic incumbent. “We will be scheduling a press conference in the next 6 weeks or so to address the issue amongst others, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring for U.S. Senate, believe me…it’s game on,” Rock stated. A new poll released by Trafalgar Group shows the musician leads with 49.62 percent among his Republican candidates, with the runner-up settling in at only 28.10 percent. In a general election match-up including voters who are undecided on either candidate, Robert Ritchie, Kid Rock’s real name, leads with 48.6 percent as opposed to the Democratic incumbent, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, who sits at 46.09 percent.
Although extremely tight, the fact that Kid Rock, a political newcomer, stands a bit ahead of his long-time political opponent shows just how much the Democrats are losing sway with the populace. Michigan, a normally blue-state, ended up turning red for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
While many people are not taking Kid Rock too seriously at this point, they are only doing so to their disadvantage. Elizabeth Warren, senator from Massachusetts, expressed her fears about Kid Rock’s potential. “I know a lot of people are thinking: this is some sort of joke, right? Well, maybe this is all a joke – but we all thought Donald Trump was joking when he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his campaign, too. And sure, maybe this is just a marketing gimmick for a new album or tour – but we all thought Donald Trump was just promoting his reality shows, too.” (via The Blaze)
Kid Rock is considering running for Senate. Do you think he could win the election?
At this point, the singer is still considering whether he will really throw his hat in the ring, but until then, he is trying to get out the vote. This Wednesday, he launched a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization to help promote voter registration.
“I was beyond overwhelmed with the response I received from community leaders, D.C. pundits, and blue-collar folks that are just simply tired of the extreme left and right bulls— As part of the excitement surrounding this possible campaign, I decided to take a hard look to see if there was real support for me as a candidate and my message or if it was just because it was a fresh news story,” wrote Rock. The founding fathers never intended for there to be career politicians acting as a ruling political class in this country, and people like Trump and Kid Rock are breaking up the political establishment with their campaigns. Hopefully this is the start of a new trend, one where the common man is once again the leader in political office, not career politicians.
