Colin Kaepernick has been struggling to find a team since leaving the San Francisco 49ers this year.
For a while, there was a possibility that the Baltimore Ravens would take a chance on the unpatriotic quarterback. But according to sportswriter and analyst Clay Travis, that possibility may have been ruined by his girlfriend’s tweet portraying Stephen Bisciotti, the Raven’s head coach, as a racist “plantation owner,” according to Independent Journal Review.
Last season, Kaepernick failed to stand for the national anthem and displayed a subsequent string of anti-American behavior. It looked like no one in the NFL was willing to stand up for the player and he was left off the rosters in the latest draft, according to Fox Sports.
The move by the teams was not surprising, considering Kaepernick drew major backlash from fans, and NFL ratings plummeted largely because of the protests, as found in a poll. What was surprising was when the Ravens recently announced their interest in hiring the toxic player.
Unfortunately for Kaepernick, his girlfriend Nessa Diab sent out a tweet that probably ruined his chances of ever getting signed on with the Ravens.
The tweet was a set of two pictures, the first picture was of retired player Ray Lewis giving the Raven’s coach Stephen Biscotti a hug from behind. The second picture was a scene from the movie Django Unchained which shows a loyal slave mourning over his deceased slave master in roughly the same position as the previous picture.
The tweet, according to an article Fox analyst Clay Travis wrote for Outkick The Coverage, likely killed any chance Kaepernick had of getting hired by the Ravens. He talked about how coaches will see the tweet and be reminded of the chaos and controversy that surround the player. Every action of his on and off the field would potentially damage the team’s reputation, and his fans who are “social justice warriors” will draw unwanted media attention.
In an interview covered by Sports Illustrated, Giants co-owner John Mara said the reaction from Giants’ fans over what the 49ers player was doing was intense. “All my years being in the league, I never received more emotional mail from people than I did about that issue.”
He described the letters he received from Giants fans, “‘If any of your players ever do that, we are never coming to another Giants game.’ It wasn’t one or two letters. It was a lot. It’s an emotional, emotional issue for a lot of people, more so than any other issue I’ve run into.”
Liberals, on the other hand, were overwhelmingly supportive of Kaepernick’s anti-patriotism. With teams reluctant to sign him on in the recent draft, some liberals even went so far as to ridiculously accuse the NFL of racism for not supporting Kaepernick and his protests.
Colin Kaepernick has proven himself to be anti-American, and now his girlfriend seems to have confirmed that he is arrogant as well. Did Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend end his career by exposing his arrogance?
Former CNN host Roland Martin made this argument in a tweet shortly after it was revealed Kaepernick was left out in the cold, “If not a single @NFL team signs @Kaepernick7, it shows their hatred of a Black man taking a social stand. These execs are pathetic.”
It’ll be interesting to see if the Ravens decide to take a chance on Kaepernick in the upcoming season. Unfortunately for the Ravens, their interest in Kaepernick has placed them between a rock and a hard place. If they decide to sign him, they draw the criticism of conservative fans who oppose Kaepernick’s anti-American views. If they decide not to, they draw the wrath of liberals who will likely accuse them of various -isms.
