URGENT: Harvard Professor Issues Shock Antifa Warning

With the hard Left’s displays of violence and toppling historical statues, America is struggling to retain its history while catering to modern ideologies.

Breitbart reports a Fox News interview with Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz on his opinion of the Left “erasing” history. Dershowitz believes these efforts to erase history pose “a danger,” and compared them to what the Antifa hero, Joseph Stalin, murderer of millions of people, did to establish his Soviet empire.

Dershowitz started off by agreeing that the Left’s efforts to censor offensive elements of our history by toppling statues is going too far. “There’s a danger removing Washington and Jefferson and other of our founding fathers who themselves owned slaves,” he said.

He acknowledged that negative practices shouldn’t be glorified with statues, but those same statues could be used to educate. “We have to take some of the statues that were put up more recently, for example, during the Civil Rights Movement and perhaps move them to museums where they can be used to teach young students about how statues are intended sometimes for bad purposes, to glorify negatives and to hold back positive developments,” Dershowitz said.

Dershowitz likened the destruction of statues and violence from the Left to what founder of the Antifa, Joseph Stalin, did during his reign of power. “The idea of willy-nilly going through and doing what Stalin did, just erasing history and re-writing it to serve current purposes, does pose a danger,” Dershowitz said, “and it poses a danger of educational malpractice, of missing opportunities to educate people, and of going too far.”

According to an article on The Daily Beast, Stalin erased the memories of those who opposed him and rewrote history to serve his own purposes. Photographs would be cropped and retouched to take out those who fell from his favor, orders went out to never again republish the historical photos, and encyclopedias were rewritten to show historical Soviet-ism in a better light.

The Harvard professor also makes the case that erasing the past to censor issues of slavery snowballs into other darker parts of our history such as the imprisonment of Japanese citizens during WWII, or the general discrimination against women throughout history. “Once you start rewriting history of African Americans in this country,” he said, “you have to start rewriting history of discrimination against many, many other groups.”

Dershowitz was swift to condemn those who praised the vandals who tore down statues and resorted to other violent means, saying, “Do not glorify the violent people who are now tearing down the statues. Many of these people, not all of them, many of these people are trying to tear down America.”

One group he targets specifically as a major source of the violence and censorship is Antifa. “Antifa is a radical, anti-American, anti-free market, communist, socialist, hard, hard Left, censorial organization that tries to stop speakers on campuses from speaking,” Dershowitz said. “They use violence, and just because they’re opposed to fascism and to some of these monuments, shouldn’t make them heroes of the liberals.”

Prof. Dershowitz said destruction of statues is similar to what Joseph Stalin did during his reign of power to erase history and serve his purposes. Is the same thing going on here?

This effort to rewrite controversial parts of our history through violence and aggression is a dangerous path towards further conflict. It also creates a huge disservice to present day and future Americans who would fail to learn from the mistakes of our ancestors.

As the great philosopher George Santayana once said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

This is the last thing we desire for the future of America.
