CNN is desperate to rehabilitate their image as President Trump continues to rail against the “fake news” network.
Anderson Cooper has announced that Andrew Cohen will replace Kathy Griffin as the host of CNN‘s New Year’s Eve Live special event. Cohen is the host and executive producer of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a celebrity gossip late-night show on Bravo. Cohen is replacing Griffin, who was fired after posing with a replica of the severed and bloodied head of President Trump, according to CNN.
Cooper announced the switch in an official statement. “Andy is the life of the party wherever he goes, and what bigger party is there than New Year’s Eve? It is going to be a blast!” Cooper said.
Cohen is the executive producer of the Real Housewives series and was the first openly gay late-night host. In 2015, Cohen and Cooper launched AC2, a live tour where the news anchor and late night host discuss their personal lives with an audience, according to The Huffington Post.
“I’ve been friends with Anderson for twenty-five years,” Cohen said. “We’ve traveled the world together and performed in 30 plus cities with ‘AC2′ and it’s all led to this one huge night!”
The 2017 New Years’ Eve special would have been Griffin’s 10th consecutive year co-hosting New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin.
Shortly after the election of President Trump, Griffin posed in a controversial photo shoot with a fake decapitated head designed to look like President Trump’s.
Outrage erupted almost immediately and CNN released a curt tweet announcing that Griffin would no longer host their New Years’ Eve event. “CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,” the network tweeted through their public relations account.
“For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in,” Cooper said about his former co-host when controversial photos started to spread on social media. “It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.”
While Kathy Griffin took her anti-Trump sentiment to the extreme, forcing CNN to fire the comedian, many other CNN employees managed to sneak their anti-Trump sentiments under the radar.
In an undercover investigation, media watchdog James O’Keefe recorded a CNN associate producer admitting that the network has a deep anti-Trump bias, as reported by Breitbart.
“On the inside, we all recognize [President Trump] is a clown, that he is hilariously unqualified for this, he’s really bad at this, and that he does not have America’s best interests … We recognize he’s just f—ing crazy,” the CNN producer was caught saying. “90 percent of us are on board with just the fact that he’s crazy,” he said about his fellow CNN producers.
This anti-Trump bias appears to surface in CNN’s continued coverage of the President. A recent University of Harvard study comparing media coverage of President Trump’s first 100 days found that CNN focused more negative attention on President Trump than any other network included in the study, according to The Washington Times.
Kathy Griffin is no longer hosting the New Year’s Eve show on CNN. Do you think CNN made the right choice in firing her?
“Trump’s coverage during his first 100 days set a new standard for negativity,” concluded the authors of the Harvard study, supporting President Trump’s assertion that CNN is fake news.
Hopefully, the consequences of Griffin’s decisions teach her — and other Hollywood liberals — a lesson about respect for the President.
