With Robert Mueller’s intentions to investigate Trump’s family finances as part of his investigation into Russian collusion, many Republicans are disgusted by the corruption of it all.
One of the upset Republicans, Newt Gingrich, pointed out numerous conflicts of interest with Mueller and his team leading the investigation. He also dropped a major truth bomb that the investigation is more about going after Trump than anything else. (via Media Matters)

Republicans have been critical of Mueller and his team for obvious bias in the investigation. Mueller was a good friend of former FBI director James Comey, whose dismissal by Trump initiated the investigation, and the lawyers on his team have a history of backing Democrats and supporting Hillary Clinton in the recent election.
In an interview with Sean Hannity, Gingrich points out the number of conflicts of interest that make the investigation “an absurdity.” He lists other reasons Mueller and his team are poor choices to head the investigation, saying, “The law firm he [Mueller] comes from gave 99.81 percent of its donations to Hillary Clinton last year… The people that he’s been hiring are all anti-Trump lawyers. Several of them have very bad records of hiding information from the defense.” (via Media Matters)
This last point could refer to Jeannie Rhee, who before becoming part of Mueller’s team, worked for the Clinton Foundation. She was tasked with enabling the foundation to refuse Freedom of Information requests in investigations and inquiries related to Hillary’s private email server.
Despite all of the hype in the media, it’s becoming apparent that Mueller’s investigation is a dud.
The investigation is several months in and the team of lawyers has failed to uncover anything that could potentially prove collusion between Trump and Russia. In a desperate attempt to find something, Mueller is expanding the scope of his investigation to include Trump’s businesses and his family’s finances in the hope that something fishy surfaces.
Gingrich voiced his complaints about the investigation with Hannity saying, “I think it’s very reasonable to say that this is a very dangerous witch hunt, that Mueller keeps expanding it because he can’t find anything in the original charge. He’s not going to find anything about Trump and Russia.” (via Media Matters)
Newt Gingrich says Mueller and his team are out to get Trump. Do you agree with him?
Trump was very critical of Mueller’s interest in expanding the investigation into his family’s finances, according to an interview with the New York Times, saying it’s a “violation” and would be seriously crossing a line. He also reminded Mueller that the investigation “is about Russia.”
Gingrich also pointed out that the lack of evidence supporting the collusion allegations could lead to Mueller and his team resorting to extreme measures to justify their efforts. “He’s hired all of these guys who have given up their very expensive law services to come out and try to get somebody and they’re going to eventually find somebody to prosecute because there are too many lawyers being paid too much money for them to go home having accomplished nothing,” Gingrich said. With Donald Trump, Jr. all over the news for a meeting with a Russian lawyer, it’s obvious that the liberal media is craving evidence proving the Russia and Trump collusion allegations. With the investigations failing to turn up evidence, Mueller is no doubt under a lot of pressure to find something, anything, that could support the allegations and is resorting to extreme lows to achieve it.
