The Democratic party has been in the news increasingly for evidence of fraud and corruption, though not much has been done about their crimes.
The DNC has recently been trying to cover up the latest scandal that has the potential to impact the party. An IT aide, Imran Awan, was just arrested for attempting to flee the country and has been charged with bank fraud. (via Fox News)
Imran Awan has been working with the Democratic party since 2004. For years he’s been the go-to IT guy for over a dozen House Democrats and has earned nearly $2 million for his 13 years of service. In February this year he, along with two of his relatives, were fired by many of the Democrats they were serving when it was discovered they had unrestricted access to their clients’ databases and were in violation of a number of policies.
One instance of major scandal that law enforcement has been investigating is that Awan may have charged the House for various items, such as monitors, routers, etc., and then stolen them, only to charge the House again for replacing those stolen items.
It’s also been learned that Awan and his relatives may have placed much of the classified data in the possession of House Democrats on the cloud, potentially exposing this sensitive information to hackers around the world.
The bank fraud Awan was arrested for was his attempt to defraud the Congressional Federal Credit Union out of $165 thousand. He obtained a home equity loan for a rental property, which is against the credit union’s policies, and then wire transferred the money to two people in Pakistan.
Some in the DNC have been trying desperately to cover up the scandal. His last client to fire him, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) threatened the Capitol Police for seizing her laptop as part of the investigation, “I think you’re violating the rules when you conduct your business that way and you should expect that there will be consequences.” (via Dailycaller)
Other House Democrats remain aloof to the investigation and some claim to know nothing about it, despite the DNC as a whole firing the Awans. When asked about her thoughts on Schulz’s continuing to employ Imran after the DNC barred his access to the networks, Nancy Pelosi, House minority leader, said, “There are plenty of people who are under investigation who still have their jobs.” (via Dailycaller)
Representative Gregory Meeks (D-NY) has been most critical of the investigations, saying, “I have seen no evidence that they were doing anything that was nefarious.” He even went so far as to say that the entire investigation is because of Islamaphobia, “I wanted to be sure individuals are not being singled out because of their nationalities or their religion.” (via Politico)
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has defended Awan in the past. Should she be investigated as part of the investigation into Awan?
Awan’s attorney, Chris Gowen, took the allegations of Islamaphobia one step further, claiming right-minded media is also to blame, “This is clearly a right-wing media-driven prosecution by a United States Attorney’s Office that wants to prosecute people for working while Muslim.” (via Politico)
The level of corruption and scandal in the DNC is becoming more and more obvious and yet none of the mainstream media seems to care. None of the liberal news networks are even talking about the investigations, the arrests, or the cover-up. They are ignoring the evidence of a criminal within the DNC who had unrestricted access to classified intel for 13 years, profited millions of dollars in tax payers’ money, and isn’t even being investigated by the clients who fired him for breaches of security!
It seems there’s something Democrats don’t want the public to know in relation to why they fired Awan, and the liberal media is simply assisting in the cover-up.
