The NFL has become more controversial than ever since former 49ers player Colin Kaepernick decided to kneel during the National Anthem. Democrats are now stepping forward to make extremely inappropriate requests to the rest of the NFL.
Former Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) took to Twitter to express her faux outrage and demands to the NFL. Her tweet reads, “On Sunday, I hope every @NFL player takes a knee in solidarity w @Kaepernick7 against the white supremacist who squats in our White House.” Not only is it disturbing that she would call for everyone in the NFL to kneel during the national anthem, but it is also disturbing that she would imply that a “white supremacist” is allowed to “squat” in the White House.
It would appear that Edwards is responding to President Trump’s speech at a rally for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange. Trump’s speech was seen by many, and of course, demonized by the Left.
During Trump’s speech, he got to the topic of the NFL and Colin Kaepernick. Trump clarified what many Conservatives have been thinking.
The point he made was that if an NFL player kneels during the National Anthem, they should be fired. He went on to say that the fans should walk out in this situation as well, in order to put forward a strong message.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a ***** off the field right now,'” Trump stated, according to The Hill, then added, “‘He is fired.'”
The president went on to clarify, “When people like yourselves turn on television, and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem – the only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it’s one player, leave the stadium.”
President Trump was trying to pass a powerful message to the people in Alabama. We need to, first and foremost, show respect for our country and the people who gave their lives for our freedoms. A simple gesture like standing during the National Anthem is more than enough.
Going forward, we need to keep the actual politics of it all away from sports. Sports are meant to be something fun and entertaining for people, not a political conversation.
Once again, a Democrat attacks Trump’s patriotic stance on the NFL. Does it make you wonder if these Democrats are even patriots?
Due to Kaepernick kneeling during the National Anthem — because he feels that there is some kind of oppressive system, despite his millions of dollars — football became political. Now, we are hearing more frequent talk of NFL players kneeling to “fight racism.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke out against President Trump’s statement. He referred to Trump’s comments as “divisive,” as opposed to kneeling during the National Anthem because of the hidden message between the song and racism that no one can explain.
Goodell was quoted as saying, “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”
