There have been growing concerns emerging about the true role the Obama Administration played in Middle Eastern foreign policy, with many claiming that the former administration actively supported organizations such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda through clandestine means.
U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) confirmed this sinister truth, stating that “For years now, our government, working with countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, have been, through the CIA, quietly arming and supporting these groups that are directly working with groups like AL Qaeda and ISIS.” (via Rep. Rep. Gabbard appeared Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show and spoke about the bill. She echoed sentiments she had mentioned earlier in Congress, stating that, “Under U.S. law it is illegal for any American to provide money or assistance to al-Qaeda, ISIS or other terrorist groups. If you or I gave money, weapons or support to al-Qaeda or ISIS, we would be thrown in jail. Yet the U.S. government has been violating this law for years, quietly supporting allies and partners of al-Qaeda, ISIL, Jabhat Fateh al Sham, and other terrorist groups with money, weapons, and intelligence support, in their fight to overthrow the Syrian government.” (via gabbard.house.gov)
Gabbard is co-sponsoring this bill with Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY), who mentions the bill “would prohibit the U.S. government from using American taxpayer dollars to provide funding, weapons, training, and intelligence support to terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS, or to countries who are providing direct or indirect support to those same groups.”
“This madness must end. We must stop arming terrorists. The government must end this hypocrisy and abide by the same laws that apply to its’ citizens,” Gabbard states.
Many conservatives have suspected arms deals with terrorists were occurring, with a considerable amount of suspicion falling on the former president. Obama was highly criticized for his reluctance to engage on the topic of Islamic terrorism, even going so far as to refuse to mention those words.
The issue appears to be more intricate than first believed, as Rep. Gabbard suggests that Obama indirectly supported Al Qaeda-ISIS to replace the Assad government at the behest of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In 2012 through 2013, the Obama Administration helped its Sunni allies in Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia provide arms to the Syrian groups that aimed to force President Bashar-Al-Assad out of power.
Obama’s former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, confirmed this last year. During the 2016 election cycle, Clinton told Goldman Sachs in a private speech that Qatar, Saudia Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were funding jihadists in Syria, and that all of these three countries were sold weapons from the U.S. (via The Daily Caller)
Trump made these claims before and has been heavily criticized by the media for going so far as to say that “Obama founded ISIS, literally,” and that Hillary Clinton was its co-founder. (via The New York Times)
It seems yet again that many of Trump’s claims have more than a kernel of truth to them after all. Thankfully, the new administration shows no signs of making the same mistakes of its predecessors and is actively fighting to destroy Islamic terrorism.
