The 2016 election cycle was rife with scandal and controversy coming from the former administration and Democrats, yet few have been properly investigated.
With the baseless investigations by Robert Mueller into President Trump, Republicans have been inspired to do their own investigations, and they already have some evidence. This has prompted Republicans of the House Judiciary Committee to send a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions requesting proper investigation into Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, James Comey, and Barack Obama. (via Breitbart)
The letter comes from a number of Republicans who voted for a committee to be formed to investigate these matters, and addresses a number of controversial issues on the part of high-profile events that were seemingly swept under the rug and never explored. These include issues such as Hillary Clinton’s private server, Comey leaking his private conversation with Trump to Daniel Richmond, Lynch’s behavior during the investigation into Hillary Clinton, and many more.
In the letter, Republicans explain they are seeking another special investigation because no evidence of Russian collusion has been found, despite the investigation lasting over a year. They write, “once you actually made the decision to appoint a special counsel, the calls for further investigations by congressional committees continued, focused on allegations that have heretofore produced no evidence of criminality, despite the fact that over a year has passed since the opening of the original FBI investigation.” (via Breitbart)
Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a statement to Breitbart that Republicans are frustrated by the lack of answers for the apparent misconduct of numerous individuals involved in the controversies. “There is little question that members of Obama’s administration repeatedly broke protocol throughout their investigations into Hillary Clinton. What is unclear, however, is why we have received few answers over the past twelve months to our questions about their actions, especially concerning the former attorney general and FBI director.” (via Breitbart)
He added that he hopes the approved committee will get to the bottom of things, “The House Judiciary Committee has continued to seek answers on various issues of interest stemming from their hearings and oversight responsibilities. This is simply an effort to finally get some of those important questions answered.” (via Breitbart)
Republicans in Congress are seeking a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, James Comey, and President Obama. Do you support them?
Not surprisingly, Democrats have been infuriated by Republicans seeking an investigation into their high-profile members. Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) voiced his irritation when the House passed the amendment to allow the probe, saying, “This is the most astonishing moment I’ve ever experienced in the Judiciary Committee. To take a question about the firing of James B. Comey and turn it into a question about Hillary Clinton? The chairman has left the room. Justice has left this room. Common sense has left this room. A lot of stuff has left this room, and maybe never entered it.” (via Breitbart)
It’s unfortunate that Democrats see further investigation into a fishy situation as unnecessary. While they praise the investigation into a Trump-Russia “collusion” which has produced no evidence, they cannot seem to move past party lines and be willing to concede that Republicans are following evidence and are attempting to find answers, no matter the outcome.
It’s about time Republicans have taken these investigations into their own hands and pushed them through the bureaucracy. Maybe now we’ll start to learn the truth behind these and other scandals and finally see the criminals appropriately punished.
