Confirmation was just discovered that the Clinton Foundation accepted large donations from foreign governments.
An email recently found amongst the Wikileaks hacks shows that officials from the government of Qatar gave the Clinton Foundation $1 million for Bill’s 65th birthday, which was not reported by the State Department. (via Reuters)
The Daily Wire reports:
Among the thousands of emails hacked from Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign chairman John Podesta and published by Wikileaks, one stated that officials from the government of Qatar gave the Clinton Foundation $1 million to celebrate Bill Clinton’s 65th birthday, funds which the foundation did not report to the State Department.
That would seemingly violate an ethics agreement Hillary Clinton signed when she became Secretary of State in 2009, in which she promised the foundation would notify the State Department’s ethics official if a new foreign government wanted to donate or ‘increase materially’ its contributions.
In other words, the Clinton Foundation lied about receiving money from foreign governments, something that is a federal offense. Ironically, this supposed ethics agreement was supposed to “increase transparency” to avoid appearances that U.S. foreign policy was being swayed by wealthy donors.
Ironically, Hillary and the mass media still have the nerve to accuse Trump of collusion with foreign nations.
Several foundation officials said they did not always comply with central provisions in the agreement with President Obama, blaming oversight in some cases. That’s the understatement of the year.
In fact, it wasn’t just Qatar hat donated funds to the Clinton Foundation, over eight other countries gave new or increase funding to the foundation; all without the State Department being informed.
The final nail in this coffin? The State Department said it has no record of being asked by the foundation to review any increase in support by a foreign government. This reeks of bribery. In a more perfect and just world, criminal charges would already have been filed.
It seems almost impossible for anyone to explain this away with some administrative error or mistake. This was undoubtedly intentional; something that many have been aware of for a long time.
The Qatar government feigned innocence and hid behind the general political demagoguery we’re so used to, stating they funded the program to support its “overall humanitarian work.”
The Founding Fathers would not be so proud of us right now. We have gotten to such an unfortunate state that some of the biggest figures in politics are getting bribed and influenced by wealthy foreign interests. In his farewell address, George Washington warned against having an “apostate and unnatural connection with any foreign power.” Are we heeding his words like we should be?
Not in the slightest, unfortunately. This needs to change.
Most importantly, how much coverage do you think the mass media will give to this startling admission of political bribery? Hardly any, yet they will instead insist upon the Russian-Trump connection that has more holes than a block of Swiss cheese.
Hopefully, with President Trump leading the way, we can soon return to a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
