The mainstream media revealed their extreme bias by attacking President Trump while ignoring the blatant racists in the Charlottesville mayor’s office.
The leading purveyor of fake news, CNN, hounded President Trump over the weekend claiming that the “moral authority” of the presidency was lost after Trump failed to disavow white nationalists by name. However, the outright racist deputy mayor of Charlottesville, Wes Bellamy, was given a free pass for a series of profanity laden tweets decrying white people.
The “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia ended in tragedy after a white nationalist protester drove his car through a crowd of counter-protesters, killing a 33-year-old woman and injuring 19 others.
Trump condemned both the protesters and anti-protesters at the “Unite the Right” rally, saying, “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides, on many sides.”
Progressives immediately criticized Trump, claiming that he was making a false equivalency by comparing neo-Nazis and white supremacists–who held the rally–with the Black Lives Matter and Antifa counter-protesters.
CNN’s senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta insinuated that Trump’s condemnation of both sides revealed hidden racism. “Note the President using the term “many sides.” Given the chance, he didn’t condemn these white supremacists and neo-Nazis by name,” he tweeted.
However, any honest liberal would be forced to admit that the violence promoted by Antifa and Black Lives Matter has no place in a modern republic. Both groups of protesters descended on Charlottesville armed with bricks and bats looking for a fight. Political violence is never justifiable.
Antifa, short for Anti-Fascists, have risen to prominence on the Left after the election of Trump. The far-left movement maintains that Trump is attempting to usher fascism into America and must be resisted by force. Antifa is best known for their violent protests against free speech, lighting vehicles on fire, and violently suppressing right-wing gatherings, according to the National Review.
Other counter-protesters in Charlottesville represented the racist and dangerous Black Lives Matter movement. Black Lives Matter protesters frequently chant, “Pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon” and “What do we want? Dead cops!” during their anti-police displays. This racist movement tacitly encouraged a sniper to open fire on a crowd of police officers in Dallas in July 2016 at the end of a Black Lives Matter protest. The sniper killed five officers and wounded several others, the National Review reports.
Clearly, both sides of the Charlottesville protest are evil and worthy of condemnation. However, while Trump is willing to condemn neo-Nazis associating themselves with the right-wing, prominent liberals refuse to acknowledge the evil committed by those on their side.
Rhetoric was flying after the incident in Charlottesville last weekend. Did President Trump sufficiently disavow the white racists involved in the rally?
In fact, many prominent liberals are outright racists themselves, including the deputy mayor of Charlottesville. In a series of tweets from 2011 onward, Wes Bellamy wrote on Twitter, “White women = Devil,” “I hate seeing white people in Orangeberg,” and many other racist sentiments. However, when CNN discussed the racist tweets with Bellamy, they offered him a free pass, forgiving his statements before he even addressed them.
If liberals want any credibility in exposing the so-called racism on the Right, then they should start by cleaning up their own backyard. While white racism is a minority of the Republican Party, the reality is that anti-white racism is the norm in Democrat circles.
