Anti-Trump Senator Bashes President Trump, Trump’s Response Has Him Begging For Mercy

Democrats would rather see America fail than let President Trump have a political victory.

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), has started a war with President Trump that is unwinnable. The former Connecticut attorney general is lashing out at the Trump administration after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced his plan to crack down on illegal leaks. In response, President Trump publicly questioned the integrity of the “phony Vietnam con artist,” stating: “I think Senator Blumenthal should take a nice long vacation in Vietnam, where he lied about his service, so he can at least say he was there,” according to Donald Trump Twitter.

USA Today reports that the Justice Department is planning to crack down on the “explosion” of illegal leaks that have been steadily streaming out of the White House and intelligence community since President Trump assumed office in January.

Attorney General Sessions explained that Justice Department investigations of illegal disclosures have more than tripled from the final days of the Obama administration. The Justice Department has received more criminal complaints over the last six months than were made over the final three years of the Obama administration combined.

In order to find the leakers, Sessions is reviewing the protocols of the Justice Department and is considering issuing subpoenas to journalists, demanding they turn over their sources. “We respect the important role that the press has and we give them respect, but it is not unlimited,” said Sessions. “They cannot place lives at risk with impunity.”

However, Senator Blumenthal rejected Sessions’ commitment to law and order, demanding that the Trump administration allow the illegal leakers to act with impunity.

“What we know about the Trump administration so far has been a result of very good reporting,” explained Blumenthal. “I believe when the history of this era is written, the heroes will be the free press and the independent judiciary who have upheld the rule of law against threats by the Trump administration.”

Blumenthal’s statement is the latest attempt at usurpation by the Democrats who are undermining national interests in an attempt to sabotage President Trump. These illegal leaks hurt everyone, and cripple the effectiveness of the American government. The Trump administration needs to feel secure enough to discuss important issues without fearing their every statement will be leaked to the press.

President Trump took to Twitter and reacted to Blumenthal’s statements. “Interesting to watch Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut talking about hoax Russian collusion when he was a phony Vietnam con artist!” the president said in the first of a series of tweets, as Fox News reports.

Here, President Trump is referring to statements Blumenthal made in the lead-up to his 2010 Senate election where he claimed to have “served during the Vietnam Era.” However, Blumenthal never specified that he served as a reservist, and had 5 deferments that allowed him to avoid being deployed.

President Trump called out Senator Blumenthal, who lied about serving in Viet Nam. Do you think Senators who lie about their accomplishments should be called out in public?

“Never in U.S. history has anyone lied or defrauded voters like Senator Richard Blumenthal.” President Trump fired back. “He told stories about his Vietnam battles and conquests, how brave he was, and it was all a lie. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child. Now he judges collusion?”

It seems as if Sen. Blumenthal is happy to watch America sink as long as President Trump goes down with the ship, and the president’s words point out his questionable integrity.
