Another potential mass grave discovered in Ukraine, could contain 9,000 bodies

As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine drags into the two-month mark, horrible scenes have unfolded in the war-torn country.

According to The Daily Wire, one of those horrific scenes includes what some are describing as a “mass grave” outside the port city of Mariupol which could contain the bodies of some 9,000 Ukrainians.

If true, the Mariupol mass grave would be 20 times larger than one recently discovered in Bucha, according to NPR. While Ukraine has had more success than initially anticipated in its fight against the Russian invaders, Russia continues to make advances given its vast numbers alone.

The mass grave is located in the eastern section of Ukraine, where some of the bloodiest battles have occurred since Russia’s invasion in February.

The report

It was a Telegram post by the Mariupol City Council last week that reported new satellite images that revealed the possible mass grave outside of Mariupol.

“The occupiers dug new trenches and filled them with corpses every day throughout April,” the post reportedly read.

It added: “Our sources report that in such graves the bodies are placed in several layers.”

New satellite imagery from near the besieged city of Mariupol in Ukraine shows an extended mass grave, the commercial company that took those photos said, according to Reuters.https://t.co/Et5FGZcs3V

Chilling update

The company that provided the updated satellite imagery, Maxar Technologies, indicated that the images show the grave being steadily expanded.

“It’s larger than three football fields, spanning approximately 340 meters — over 1,000 feet — in length,” NPR noted.

Mariupol’s mayor, Vadym Boychenko, compared the scene to that of Adolf Hitler’ Nazi massacre at Babyn Yar during World War II. “Putin is destroying Ukrainians. He has already killed tens of thousands of civilians in Mariupol,” Boychenko said.

He added: “This requires a strong reaction from the entire civilized world. Anything needs to stop the genocide.”
