Liberal Hollywood has often been extremely critical of Trump, blaming him for seemingly everything.
Yet it seems an actress out of Hollywood has blamed Trump for the recent hurricanes, reported Newsbusters. According to Jennifer Lawrence, Mother Nature is upset with Trump and these hurricanes are evidence of her “rage and wrath.”
In an interview about her upcoming role in the movie Mother! Jennifer Lawrence was questioned about her opinions on a number of political issues.
The interviewer began the political section by stating that the director made the film so dark because “It’s a mad time to be alive” citing the political strife in America. The interviewer asked Lawrence’s opinion on the director’s statement.
She responded by segueing into climate change, “It’s scary. You know, it’s this new language that’s forming, I don’t even recognize it. It’s also scary to know, that climate change is due to human activity, and we continue to ignore it, and the only voice that we really have is through voting.”
Lawrence went on to say that Trump’s election was “startling” and that Mother Nature was responding with the hurricanes. “You know you’re watching these hurricanes now, and it’s really hard especially while promoting this movie, not to feel mother nature’s rage and wrath.”
Lawrence echoes the belief of many liberals that Hurricane Harvey was a result of climate change or because Republicans are choosing to ignore climate change, according to The Washington Times.
Climate Reality Project, a pet project of former Vice President Al Gore, claimed that climate change made the hurricane “more devastating” and called it “an unnatural disaster”. The organization laid the blame on Trump’s administration, saying it’s “the product of both a hotter planet and this administration’s climate denial, racism, and callousness.”
Roger Pielke Jr., a professor at the University of Colorado Center for Science & Technology Policy Research, rebuked these claims. He cited the fact that Hurricane Harvey is not part of the supposed trend of climate change, but a fluke considering it’s been a record 12 years since a major hurricane made landfall in the US.
He criticized the liberals trying to use the disaster to try and further their political agendas: “There is no reason to be debating Harvey and climate change in the context of an unfolding disaster, other than political opportunism and attention seeking. It’s not a good look for scientists or journalists who are promoting this issue.”
It’s not a good look for actresses like Lawrence, who try and insert their opinions on climate change into an interview about a horror movie that has nothing to do with climate change.
Trump and global warming are to blame for the hurricanes, according to this actress. Do you believe this?
Yet Lawrence did try to tie it together, saying the movie was a voice for the hopelessness and rage many liberals are feeling in the face of Trump and his policy changes.
When asked what she thought about the future, Lawrence responded, “I have to feel hope, you know you have to feel hope. You can’t just fall into despair. But a producer on the movie called this film, ‘an impotent howl of rage.’ It’s like a helpless howl to the moon, like, it’s just an assault.”
It’s astounding to think that some liberals believe Hurricane Harvey is somehow a punishment for the US electing Trump. Even more astounding is they would take the horrific disaster that occurred and try to make it fodder for their political narratives and agendas. But such is the norm for Hollywood these days, and it leaves no surprise as to why award show viewership and movie ticket purchases are on the decline.
